Biochemistry Research Scientist
The biochemistry division is seeking several energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team as a biochemist to develop innovative technology platforms; a creative and independent team member who specialized in using mammalian cell to express protein to produce carbohydrate related enzymes, carbohydrate-based pharmaceuticals and glycoproteins vaccines. The individuals in this position will also work as a member of the production team responsible for a diverse line of products.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Product Management responsibilities for products in support of catalog sales.
• Writing and executing protocols with minimal guidance.
• Perform quality analysis utilizing HPLC, LCMS Single Quad System.
• Work closely with team on related projects.
• Performs and records quality control to ensure accuracy of experimental data.
• Design and construction of expression constructs of the reconstructed genes.
• Expression, purification and biochemical characterization of the encoded enzymes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of working protocols, vialing records, and substrate inventory.
• Purifications are routinely done by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) or flash chromatography (FC).
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. • Follows Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures for all tasks. Required Qualifications: • Minimum BS in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology or relevant.• Experience in protein expression in microbial systems.
• Skilled with standard molecular biology techniques a plus, i.e. Western Blot; protein isolation, purification, and quantitation.
• Familiarity with AKTA (GE Healthcare) FPLC equipment along with a practical understanding of chromatographic principles.
• Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sterile techniques, experimental rationale, and scientific quantitation
• “Good hands” at the bench and an ability to perform careful and consistent experiments.
• Able to manage timelines productively and bring projects to completion.
• Demonstrate significant skills in production while adhering to safe laboratory practices and environmental safeguards.
